While at Sacred Heart College in Te Awakairangi / Lower Hutt, Charlotte and three students started an environmental group prototyping cardboard compost boxes. Within three years they had over 100 rangatahi volunteering, recycling, participating in various climate change projects, and a social media team to promote messages and recruit action.

Building community and engaging in climate action is important to empowering ākonga participation and leadership.
